REAL FAKE GEAR L.L.C. Is an online only home buisness based in Tulsa Oklahoma.
-"Tactical gear as an art medium, why not?"
"Welcome to my shop, I sell Alice and alice accessories, here's a dumb snapgrid chest rig, it's stupid and you can't get any pouches for it,. Also we've got these Zavtek styled twist lock things if you're just wanting to burn money for the extra dripp"
It was difficult finding cool 90's repro gear stateside and I wanted a place I could store my own designs. Making practical and silly things in the style of 80's/90's/2000's webgear.
I didn't become the "SnapGrid Guy" until I scored a handpress with almost all of the dies secondhand. (It was still expensive, but business tools cost business money.) I taught myself how to use it and now we're working on reintroducing snapgrid into the ecosystem. Helping restore their dwindling numbers and bring them away from the edge of extinction.
"What does REAL FAKE GEAR even mean?"
Well, it's fake because I made it-- and it's real gear because it uses real materials and techniques, and well, it's gear.. . so hence, real--fake--gear. I dunno, I thought it was pretty funny, and then the domain was surprisingly available; one thing led to another, and here we are!
REAL FAKE GEAR also sounds good when you turn it into an acronym, and then you add some more letters to the front of it. Like, NS-RFG and suddenly you have a pseudo contractor name that looks good on a label.
"NO STEP?" Yeah, don't, it's gear, not for stepping on, no step, hot surface. NO LIFT either.
